So, you want to start a blog and make money from it?
Cool…this is fun and exciting! You are about to share your knowledge with an audience but I’m sure you’re wondering… is this worth your time? This is a completely valid question because time is money! In this article, we’ll look at how to start a blog and make money from it.

So, before I go on with this content, here’s my short answer:
If it’s done right, you can actually make money blogging.
I am delighted to introduce many tools that will help you get started.
Let’s start your website
First off, to start a blog, you’ll need a domain name and a hosting account to “host” your site. That is the process of bringing your site alive on the world wide web!
Number one, you need to think of a domain name for your blog. That is the URL of your website, the website that your followers will visit.
==> SiteGround is a great place to purchase your domain
You can get one for under $20 per year, it’s actually very cheap to own a domain… how sweet is that?
One you registered your domain; you’ll need to host it.
Simple process once again, where SiteGround lets you host your website for a reasonable annual fee.
Now, there are various different types of hosting account to choose from; you have shared hosting, cloud hosting and dedicated servers.
A shared hosting account is usually the cheapest way to get started. The downside of choosing this option is that you “share” your hosting with other website owners, hence the lower price.
Then you’ve got cloud hosting. This is my favorite and the one I’m actually using for all my websites.
Cloud hosting is quick and reliable. Your pages will load fast, which is an important factor when you’re blogging. It’s priced in the middle range, where you get (by far) the best bang for your buck!
You also have the option of choosing a dedicated server. This is mostly for advanced users and for websites that have a lot of traffic coming in.
I say, if you just want to get started, get a shared hosting account and if you want more speed and your budget allows it, get a cloud hosting.
Installing WordPress on your website
Once you’ve registered your domain and signed up for a hosting account, I recommend installing WordPress on your site.
With WordPress, you’ll be able to start blogging in no time.
WordPress is specifically designed for bloggers.
It’s a CRM (Customer relationship management) that allows you to install themes, so that you have the “look and feel” you’re looking for on your blog.
But, don’t worry about all this technical stuff because with SiteGround, you can install WordPress very easily from your dashboard.
Actually, it’s very easy to install and if ever you run into problems, their support team is always available to help out.
With 24/7 support and 1-click WordPress Installation… it doesn’t get much easier than this!
Now, what’s next?
Build your online community
Once your site/blog is set up, use other online platforms to let people know you have a website. Use the power of connections and trust the process.
Staying active and participating in any relevant social media activity is also important in order to drive as much traffic as possible to your website!
Your goal should be to make your content look as amazing and optimal as possible.
…So, make sure you are proud of your work, what you create, and how you deliver it.
Do it once and do it well.
Create content that is relevant and useful to your readers.
The more you create content that they like, the more they will come back for more.
Link your social media articles and videos to your blog and vice versa. Share your stuff everywhere you can!
This should ensure an audience but finding blog networks and commenting and sharing other people’s posts is extremely important as well!
Find problems – and provide a solution!
Research, research, and… Research!
It may be a shock at first how much information is out there (even in niche markets) but you want to be sure that you’re original.
So, find the problems that people in your market have and provide them an effective solution.
This will get your website tons of hits and generate more traffic, opt-ins, and build up your audience.
For example, take a look at my self-defense blog.
It’s a blog where we provide self-defense tips for people who are looking to learn how to defend themselves.
I can confirm that blogging is an effective way to reach new visitors on a specific topic.
You can do the exact same as I did and start your own blog on the niche you selected.
The more you know on a topic, the better you’ll be able to help your visitors by providing quality information.
Generate passive income from your blog
Once these steps are done and under way, you should know your way around the world of blogging. You’ll know also discover how to brand yourself and how to monetize your work.
- Write articles that really help your viewers
- Monetize your blog (Heck, you’re in business, you need to generate income, right?)
- Sell a product or a service! Don’t have one, no worries, recommend a good product with affiliate marketing.
In case you’re wondering how to monetize your blog, put banner ads on it and invite your visitors to join your newsletter where you can sell them other products and services.
That’s how it’s done!
I have found great success with blogging and it was all done with the tips I share in this article.
I use a SiteGround cloud hosting because they are reliable and my websites load FAST!
SiteGround uses quality servers to make sure that the technology is adequate for accepting many different users on your site at once.
This is great for selling online courses, not just for blogging.
Indeed, you can install a digital cart on your website and have your own digital online store with secure payment methods.
This technology is designed to help you sell more online!
You just need to take it one step at time, read the instructions and you’ll have your blog and online store ready in no time.
I hope that you enjoyed this article on how to start a blog and make money from it.
